ZOE KÄKOLYRIS was born in 1976 in Southgate, London. When only 10 days old, Zoe had a very bad cold for which she was prescribed very strong antibiotics. As a result of this medication, she lost her hearing and is still, to-day, profoundly deaf. Zoe also suffers from Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism which, incredibly, wasn't detected until she was in her early twenties

ZOE'S WORLD is a magical and quirky world, full of life and humour. Her wonderful naïve style is completely unique and unaffected by art movements and trends. In her artwork Zoe has found a way of expressing herself. Amidst apparent chaos and hyperactivity is joy and a strange kind of serenity. For Zoe, her world and her people , are the realisation of a utopian dream where love, fun and friendship are never-ending.

Zoe's unique style of painting

ZOE'S DEBUT EXHIBITION was at the Hellenic Centre in 2004. Prior to this, Zoe was invited to Buckingham Palace when one of her paintings was presented to Princess Anne by the National Autistic Society in recognition of HRH's work for the Society. One of Zoe's paintings was also used for the front cover of the NAS's fortieth commemorative book and Zoe has recently appeared on BBC2 See Hear programme as well as Greek national TV.
